Program:

Session 1: 09:15 – 10:35

-What is Regenerative Agriculture?

-Human scale farming

-Soil, Carbon and Water

-Complex Vs Complicated systems

-Exponential growth and decay

-Ecosystem processes

Here we will look at the basic tenets of Regenerative Agriculture, which runs counter to the trajectory of industrial ag, and aims to put the nobility back into rural stewardship. We will break down each of these tenets to explore key insights into soil, carbon and water which must dictate how we farm if we wish to sustain production in the long term in an economically, ecologically and socially sound way. We will explore key ecosystem processes that we must harness to our advantage to avoid constantly fighting symptoms, as we do in so many areas of our lives.

20 min break: 10:35 – 10:55

Free fika from Plantkafeet, kombucha from Roots of Malmö and …

Session 2: 10:55 – 12:15

-The Scale of Permanence

-Topography and farm design

-Keyline and agroforestry

The Scale of Permanence is the ordering framework with which Richard approaches farm design; an elegant and holistic way of prioritizing the importance of different elements in the landscape from the earliest developed ecological design framework. We will understand the direct relationship between topography and water, the limiting factor for all production, and how to design energy efficient farms (and even urban areas) that harness gravity. By understanding ecosystem processes and topography we design landscapes that look very different from the typical farms we are used to seeing, and explore the layered benefits.

Lunch break 12:15 – 13:15

Unfortunately, no lunch included!

Session 3: 13:15 – 15:00

-Direct sales through relationship marketing

-Modular, scalable and replicable enterprises

Relationship marketing is not only the basis of food-security for local communities in human-scale agricultures, but allows the farmer to have control of their business and see fair returns for their hard work. We shall explore the modalities and innovations for entrepreneurial farmers in this regard, explore various enterprises and dive into numbers and economy to see how they stack up.
